K’s Hope for a Cure Lupus Walk Team hosts Virtual Party!

The Virtual Team Meeting/Pre-Walk/Party held on August 15th was a great success. Team member, Burma, walked with her family and sent pictures to us before the meeting. During their walk, she also shared facts about lupus with her grandchildren.

Twenty-six team members attended the party. Our daughter, Celia, did a great job as the coordinator. She made the connection with Zoom and created the PowerPoint presentation that included group pictures of our team members throughout the years. She also guided us through the program that included games, quizzes about lupus facts, pictures of my books titled FIGHTING LUPUS BATTLES, and a description of the LSI mission.

First, I gave a brief history of the South Suburban Illinois Lupus Walk and why I’m involved. Our daughter, Carla, created a wall display of team memorabilia and won first place for having the most total team items. Our niece, Jan, came in second by wearing purple hair. Quiz items about lupus facts were presented throughout the meeting, and our members responded correctly to most of the items. (What can I say? I know some well-informed and smart people). Our niece, Nia, led us in warm-up exercises; she even got Cecil involved. Niece and nephew, Adrian & Phyllis, took a picture after the meeting and submitted it to LSI. I think everyone who was able to attend had a good time. Thanks so much. You’re the best.
