Thank You Lupus Support Group Leaders!
People with lupus often feel alone with their disease and with the everyday struggles that the disease brings to their lives. The primary objective of support groups is to provide a warm and caring environment where people with lupus, family members and/or friends can share their experiences, methods of coping and insights into living with a chronic illness.
What most people don’t know is Support Group Leaders take on the responsibility of coordinating their group – selecting meeting spaces, topics to cover, dates that work for everyone, updating their groups on lupus information and the LSI’s activities.
LSI’s Support Group Leaders are often the first point of contact for many in the lupus community. Their commitment to serving their communities and keeping in contact with LSI is a big commitment.
On this GivingTuesday, LSI wants to recognize their incredible commitment and we encourage others to take a moment to recognize that commitment as well.
Visit Facebook and like the Support Group Leader post and post an #LSIunselfie to instagram or twitter with a note thanking the dedicated lupus champions! LSI might select your post to share in a future eChronicle!

Make a Tribute Donation for Giving Tuesday!
Tribute donations include a letter to acknowledgees informing them of your donation.
Lupus Society of Illinois has joined #GivingTuesday, a first of its kind effort that will harness the collective power of a unique blend of partners—charities, families, businesses and individuals—to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.
Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support and help create a better world.
Taking place December 2, 2014 – the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – #GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national moment around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping.
