Resources for Men with Lupus
Misconceptions exist that lupus is a women’s disease but 10% of lupus cases are men. The fact is that anyone can get lupus, regardless of age, ethnicity or gender.
Since 90% of lupus patients are women, it can be difficult for men to find the information and support they need. The Lupus Society of Illinois exists to help the entire lupus community and has specific resources for men with lupus.
Finding another man with lupus can be challenging and the foundation is able to connect men with lupus through the Individual Peer Support program that puts participants in contact with a volunteer with a similar background.
The Lupus Community Navigator program can help you with any specific questions or issues you may have.
It’s important to remember support is available. The Lupus Society of Illinois is here to ensure that you find what you need to live well with lupus. Contact Sonya Loynachan at [email protected] or call 312-542-0004 to take participate.
